It’s Good Friday, and it’s a “good Friday” because it’s another chance for you to win a couple of NEW books!

©️MomLovesReading

🐰Today is Good Friday & Passover begins, it’s my husband’s birthday, our kids have a 3-day wkend & Sunday is Easter💒! Busy busy! And since I love paying it forward w/ books, since I’m blessed w/ many, I’m hosting my third giveaway of the week on Instagram.

📖From NYT bestselling author Lucy Foley comes the new locked room mystery, ’The Paris Apartment’, set in a Paris apt bldg in which every resident has something to hide…

📖Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke & alone, & she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash w/ him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, & surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apt, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

📖The longer Ben stays missing, the more Jess starts to dig into her brother’s situation, & the more questions she has. Ben’s neighbors are an eclectic bunch, & not particularly friendly. Jess may have come to Paris to escape her past, but it’s starting to look like it’s Ben’s future that’s in question.

📖The socialite—The nice guy–The alcoholic–The girl on the verge–The concierge…Everyone’s a neighbor. Everyone’s a suspect, & everyone knows something they’re not telling…🤐

📚I chose ‘The Paris Apartment’ as a BOTM a couple mos back, then I received a gift copy from @williammorrowbooks (Thank you, WM!). I’m going to be reading The Paris Apartment soon, & I’d love to send 1 winner a hardback copy of that book along with a paperback of ‘The Hunting Party.

Insomnia may keep some folks awake all night, but ‘Insomnia’ the book is a great way to pass the time while you’re waiting for the ever elusive REM sleep…

@mom_loves_reading on Instagram

😵‍💫Insomnia may keep some folks awake at night, but what better way to pass the time than by reading today’s featured new release!

Happy Pub Day to Sarah Pinborough & her latest release, ‘Insomnia’, a twisty, imaginative, brilliantly addictive, thriller that will keep you up all night—in a good way—flying through the pages of this gripping, suspenseful new release.

“If you loved Behind Her Eyes, prepare to be totally and utterly blown away by Insomnia. Sarah Pinborough is a twisted genius.” — Lisa Jewell

IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT, MADNESS LIES . . .

Emma can’t sleep.

CHECK THE WINDOWS.

It’s been like this since her big 4-0 started getting closer.

LOCK THE DOORS.

Her mother stopped sleeping just before her own fortieth birthday.
She went mad and did the unthinkable because of it.

LOOK IN ON THE CHILDREN.

Is that what’s happening to Emma?

WHY CAN’T SHE SLEEP?

Readers either loved it or they didn’t, but when it came to Pinborough’s debut thriller, ‘Behind Her Eyes’, released in 2017, I LOVED it! I gasped outloud when I read those final few pages, then went back & reread them again. It totally blew me away! The premise was fresh, very unique, & so many levels of crazy, I thought about it long after I read it.

The Netflix adaptation was pretty good as well, but not as fab as the book IMHO. I feel like if you hadn’t read the book previously, before watching the limited series, you’d be a little confused (my husband totally was when he watched it with me, but I clued him in on the basics, but had to hold back on giving away that cray-cray ending!).

They did leave a few things out & changed a couple scenes here & there. ‘Behind Her Eyes’ is definitely a book I recommend often to thriller readers who haven’t read a bajillion of them & can guess every outcome by the end of the first chapter like I often can these days. (But I couldn’t back then, so this book rocked my world! 🤯📖🙌🏻)

As you can see from my Instagram photo at the top of this post, I have all of Sarah Pinborough’s adult novels & ‘13 Minutes’, which is one of her young adult novels. I think ‘Behind Her Eyes’ is still my favorite thriller by the New York Times Bestselling author, but I’d say ‘Insomnia’ is definitely the new contender for 2nd favorite.

📖In this twisty, mind-bending thriller, Emma Averell worries that her crippling insomnia is a sign that she’s slowly going insane—like the mother she’s worked so hard to leave in her past.

Emma Averell loves her life—her high-powered legal career, her two beautiful children, and her wonderful stay-at-home husband—but it wasn’t always so perfect. When she was just five years old, Emma and her older sister went into foster care because of a horrific incident with their mother. Her sister can remember a time when their mother was loving and “normal,” but Emma can only remember her as one thing—a monster. And that monster emerged right around their mother’s fortieth birthday, the same age Emma is approaching now.

Emma desperately wants to keep her successful life separate from her past, so she has always hidden her childhood trauma. But then she’s unable to sleep, and now losing time during the day, also one of the first symptoms her mother showed. Is the madness in her blood, just as her mother predicted? Could she end up hurting her family in her foggy, frenetic state? Or is she truly beginning to lose her mind?

Insomnia’ & Sarah Pinborough’s other novels, are available now wherever books are sold.

You can add ‘Insomnia’ to your Goodreads list by clicking HERE.

You can give my Instagram post about the book some LIKE love by clicking HERE. (PS: Be sure to check out THIS post while you’re there, to enter my latest GIVEAWAY for another fantastic new release.)

You can also use BookStoreLink to find ‘Insomnia’ & any other book you’re in the mood for at a nearby or online independent bookstore.

📖In this pulse-pounding thriller, a group of women travel to the most remote place in England for a weekend escape, only to discover a startling note that one of their husbands will be killed before they return home.

About the book:
Three couple.
Two bodies.
One secret…

Dark Fell Barn is a “perfectly isolated” retreat, or so says its website when Jayne books a reservation for her friends. A quiet place, far removed from the rest of the world, is exactly what they need.

The women arrive for a girls’ night ahead of their husbands. There’s ex-Army Jayne, hardened and serious, but also damaged. Ruth, the driven doctor and new mother who is battling demons of her own. Young Emily, just wed and insecure, the newest addition of this tight-knit band. Missing this year is Edie, who was the glue holding them together, until her husband died suddenly.

But what they hoped would be a relaxing break soon turns to horror. Upon arrival at Dark Fell Barn, the women find a devastating note claiming one of their husbands will be murdered. There are no phones, no cell service to check on their men. Friendships fracture as the situation spins wildly out of control. Betrayal can come in many forms.

This group has kept each other’s secrets for far too long…

😁Sounds really great, huh? You can click HERE to add it to your Goodread’s list.

A new release giveaway for a twisty, modern retelling of a classic most reader’s know of or have read…

🎉Time for a Pub Week GIVEAWAY!🎉

📖Happy Belated Pub Day to ‘Mrs. Rochester’s Ghost‘ by Lindsay Marcott! (8/1) & Thank you to @tlcbooktours @amazonpublishing for my gift copy of the book! (Click HERE to view the post on Instagram & enter the giveaway to win a copy of today’s featured novel! Give the post a LIKE and/or a SHARE to show your support of the author & me, too!😉)

📕In a modern & twisty retelling of ‘Jane Eyre’, a young woman must question everything she thinks she knows about love, loyalty, & murder. The past may haunt her, but the truth may just kill her…

📕Jane has lost everything: job, mother, relationship, even her home. A friend calls to offer an unusual deal –a cottage above the crashing surf of Big Sur on the estate of his employer, Evan Rochester. In return, Jane will tutor his teenage daughter. She accepts.

📕But nothing is quite as it seems at the Rochester estate. Though he’s been accused of murdering his glamorous & troubled wife, Evan Rochester insists she drowned herself. Jane is skeptical, but she still finds herself falling for the brilliant & secretive entrepreneur & growing close to his daughter.

📕And yet her deepening feelings for Evan can’t disguise dark suspicions aroused when a ghostly presence repeatedly appears in the night’s mist & fog. Jane embarks on an intense search for answers & uncovers evidence that soon puts Evan’s innocence into question. She’s determined to discover what really happened that fateful night, but what will the truth cost her?

📖’Mrs Rochester’s Ghost‘ is a solid, modernized retelling/interpretation of the original, & I enjoyed this better than the original that I was forced to read in HS, when I had zero interest in historical fiction. It’s gothically atmospheric, mysterious, chilling & engaging.

💁🏼‍♀️Add it to your TBR list & enter today’s giveaway on my Instagram page to win a copy by clicking HERE. (Open to US/CAN res only, 8/4-8/7/21.)

From Lindsay Marcott: I always knew I wanted to be a writer & began by free-lancing articles to Harpers, Rolling Stone, Vogue, & Working Woman. My first novel, written under Lindsay Maracotta, was the thriller ‘Hide & Seek’. This was followed by the national bestselling ‘Everything We Wanted’.
After moving to Los Angeles & working among the beautiful, the bad, & the ugly of Hollywood, I wrote the critically acclaimed ‘Dead Is The New Fabulous’ mystery series, twice a Sisters in Crime Best Book & made numerous Ten Best Mystery lists. “A composer is always thinking about his unfinished work.’- Stravinsky

In a propulsive thriller by the #1 internationally bestselling author of The Baztán Trilogy, a female detective follows a sadistic killer into the eye of a storm

Amaia Salazar, a young detective from the north of Spain, has joined a group of trainees at the FBI Academy in Virginia. Haunted by her past & having already tracked down a predator on her own, Amaia is no typical rookie. And this is no ordinary student lecture at Quantico. FBI agent Aloisius Dupree is already well acquainted w/ Amaia’s skills, her intuition, & her ability to understand evil. He now needs her help in hunting an elusive serial killer dubbed “the Composer,” & in solving another case that’s been following him his whole life.

From New Jersey to Oklahoma to Texas, the Composer’s victims are entire families annihilated in the chaos of natural disasters, their bodies posed w/ chilling purpose amid the ruins. But a troubling call from Amaia’s aunt back home awakens in Amaia the ghosts from her childhood & sends her down a path as dark as that of the coming storm.

Redondo’s razorsharp writing makes this utterly gripping, atmospheric, gritty, dark story so haunting & disturbing, it’s hard to put down. Plus, I studied Forensic Criminology in college w/ plans to work in CSI & profiling before becoming a stay at home mother, so I was fascinated by it.
